Accommodations |
Your accommodations are in two cabins nestled in the woods. One cabin, The Backpack Inn,
sleeps up to 12 people. The other cabin, The Tiny Little Tool Shed, sleeps up to 24 people and can
accommodate two school groups. Each group has their own meeting space and tables for games
and beading. Beds are handmade twin-size bunkbeds with electric mattress pads. We provide
pillows and extra blankets. You'll need to bring a sleeping bag. The cabins have heat (woodstoves)
and air conditioning and electric outlets. All students will eat meals together in the main dining hall.
There's a shower house located between the two cabins with four modern showers and private
dressing rooms. Plenty of hot water. Bring your own towels. There are four outhouses along a
trail beside the cabins. Remember…this is rural Appalachia! If you don't know what an outhouse
is…Google it!
There's a 1-mile hiking trail on the property with overlooks of the Little Tennessee River and The
Grandmother Tree, a 500+ year old Eastern red cedar tree. Students are welcome to walk the trail
any time during their free time.
Cell phones sometimes work here but sometimes not…but we ask that you consider limiting use
of cell phones, Blackberries, IPods, etc. and enjoy the solitude of the mountains. There is no Wi-fi
service here.
Nearest grocery store, ATM, gas station, bank, post office, drug store, and laundromat are 9 miles
away in Vonore. Nearest hospital is Blount Memorial Hospital in Maryville 20 miles away.
